Lee Green DOUBLE BILL: Saturday 15th September at Manor House Library

Calling everyone who contributes to Lee Green’s community!

Do you voluntarily give up your time to help run local groups and activities?

Do you attend local meetings that give local residents a voice in what goes on in Lee Green?

To recognise and support the work that you do, you are warmly invited to two events at Manor House Library on the evening of Saturday 15th September.

Volunteers by their efforts do so much to support and bring the community together, often without much by way of credit.  These events provide some well-deserved recognition for volunteers’ contributions, and include a free meal, entertainment and great raffle prizes.

  • FIRST EVENT: Lee Green Lives’ Annual General meeting (AGM), starting at 5.30pm

Lee Green Lives (LGL) runs the community centre in Leegate.  It has grown from a small campaign group set up to ensure local people have a say in any future Leegate redevelopment, to a thriving hub for activities, advice and information, and an inclusive, welcoming place to meet and make friends for anyone in our community.

This is an exciting time for Lee Green Lives.  Over the last year it has developed significantly.  At our AGM, you can find out about how its expanding future will interest all who live in the area.  Lee Green Lives is supported by the Assembly, facilitates the work of our local Consortium of community groups, and works with many local organisations including Clarion Housing and Manor House Library.

AGM Agenda – Lee Green Lives “Beyond the Crossroads” – attached.

  • MAIN EVENT: Festival, starting at 7pm, and called “Celebrating our Community”

For all who contribute to our community e.g. through volunteering in a local group, supporting activities that benefit the local community, or attending meetings to ensure local people get a say in what goes on in the area. What’s on offer?

  • A chance to meet others in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere
  • Free food provided by Pistachio’s in the Park
  • Raffle offering prizes of from local restaurants and shops, and a tour of the House of Commons from local MP Janet Daby
  • Music by a local jazz group
  • Local groups can exhibit some of their work in the library

The event has been organised by Lee Green Consortium, a network of 15 local groups working together and promoting what they do to better the lives of local residents, under the banner of “Our community, our say”.  It is supported by Lee Green Assembly.

So, if you’re a member of any of the groups listed below, or attend Lee Green Assembly meetings regularly, please come along and join the fun!
