Lee Fair Share Clock Tower Challenge raises cash for local projects

At 11:10am on Sunday 23 Oct five members from Lee Fair Share Time Bank set out on the Clock Challenge Walk. It was a lovely autumnal day and the walkers set off at a steady pace knowing that they had not only to cover a distance of more miles than many of them have done since their younger days but it would also be on roads and pavements (not very forgiving) and between the valley of Lewisham to the heights of Greenwich & Blackheath.

indexUndaunted they set off from the Lee Community Centre at Lee Green first to Hither Green to visit the old Hither Green Hospital Clocktower, then to Lewisham’s Clocktower and on finally to the Greenwich Observatory Clock. The team maintained a good pace and spirits were very high stopping only for a short while at Greenwich Park to grab refreshments before pushing on to their final destination which they reached at 3:10 pm (see photo above) just under 3 hours in total. Simultaneously, some less able bodied members set off to walk several laps of Manor Park in support of the main challenge. Well done all the walkers!

Money raised by index-1these events are used to fund trips out for the members as well as helping with the costs of running weekly social meetings & health classes.
