Manor House Library in limbo – reduced hours and no-one to take over

FullSizeRenderLewisham Council is to give up responsibility for Manor House Library in October – but as this email demonstrates, it has no Plan B. No social enterprise has been found to take it over so the library and the house will be in limbo.
Peter Richardson from the Manor House Library Users Group received this email from the Head of Library & Information Services:
In relation to your request for information about details of the interim arrangements for the Manor House library operations, on 13 July 2016, Mayor and Cabinet agreed that the Library Service should develop interim arrangements for the management of the building until the new partner is in place.
This means that the building will continue to open to the public on a reduced number of hours. Library services – including computer booking – will be available on a self-service basis, supported by visits from the peripatetic library team that supports the community libraries, and there will be opportunities for accommodating community uses.
The interim arrangements will be presented in an update on progress at the next Safer Stronger Communities Select Committee in September 2016.

I hope the information I have provided is satisfactory. If you have any further queries or would like to discuss the matter, please feel free to contact me.

Kind regards,
Antonio Rizzo
